Ron ScottPresident“People do business with people they like and trust.” It is one of Ron Scott’s favourite expressions – words that go a very long way toward explaining Ron’s tremendous success as a wealth manager for more than 25 years, and his vision of being recognized by our clients and community as Alberta’s most trusted wealth management firm. Put simply, people like and trust Ron because he is extremely knowledgeable about investment and insurance products – but he is never, ever pushy. Instead, he has a bedrock belief in the freedom of the individual to determine their own path, as expressed in the core purpose of Ron Scott Financial: To control our own destiny and help our clients do the same. If Ron’s philosophy of life has a distinctly Western ring to it, it is with good reason. He was born and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and before his entry to the wealth management business, enjoyed a 25-year career as a professional steer wrestler. In 1990, he moved to Calgary to work with Sun Life Financial, and in 1999 he established his own firm. In the course of serving high net worth clients in Calgary and across Alberta, Ron has been recognized by Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) as obtaining its qualifying status for over 20 years. On four occasions – most recently in 2014 – he has reached the highest level of elite status: Top of the Table in the World. In 2011, Ron received the rare honour of being inducted into Sun Life’s Hall of Fame. Ron is also widely recognized for his extraordinary philanthropic work for young people in need. Through Big Hearted Cowboys, the charity he founded, he has raised close to $3-million for worthy causes including the Variety Club of Southern Alberta, Between Friends, Hull Child and Family Services, Community Kitchen and Kidsport Calgary. Outside of work hours, along with time he spends giving back to his community, Ron continues to engage in his passion for his Western heritage and love of horses. He still competes at a high level in Canadian Team Penning Association events across Canada and the United States. In 2014, his team was runner-up in the Canadian Team Penning Finals Open Class. The year previous, he won – with a team composed entirely of clients. |
